History
James Forsyth was founded in 1952 by James Forsyth Snr. on the site currently used today. The premises consisted of one small warehouse, one vehicle and £150 in cash.
The following 33 years saw the addition of two small warehouses and five vehicles. In 1969 James Forsyth Jnr joined the management team of the business; identified key strengths and future potential; and in 1985 took up the reigns, when it became James Forsyth Coatbridge LTD. During this time the site was further extended, with the addition of a potato washing and a pre pack warehouse; where the Kirkstyle Brand was born. Over the next 25 years the company expanded considerably; with the site and buildings tripling in size and the refrigerated transport fleet reaching 35 vehicles.
Continued investment in plant has seen James Forsyth install a state of the art potato packing facility, designed and custom built to his specification, as well as a fully BRC accredited fruit and veg preparation area. The flexible design of this facility has allowed it to develop in size and utilise emerging technology to deliver the best possible service to its customers. Over the past 6 years James Forsyth has extended the chilled produce area of the warehouse to 80% of the total area to ensure quality of produce.
By responding to customers' needs and requirements; building strong customer relations and through an ongoing investment programme, Forsyth Produce Direct has become one of Scotland's largest distributors of prepared produce and quality fruit and vegetables with an annual turnover of ten million pounds.
