JUNE

Seasonal food is often less expensive than out of season produce because it doesn't require fruit and vegetablesanywhere near as much effort to produce.

Forsyth Fresh Produce, keeps its customers informed of current market prices; the supply and availability of seasonal produce which in turn allows better control over costs and quality.


POTATOES
Ware potatoes for boiling. Cambridgeshire, Piper or Markie for chipping - prices stonger.
Red Rooster for boiling & chipping
Ayrshire, Pembroke, Cyprus and Jersey Royal new potatoes now available.
Baby Potatoes - Carmel and French supplies short, prices stronger - lovely with salads.
Bakers all sizes. Cooked bakers also available for the busy chef .
Par fries- bravi mark 10mm 14mm.

VEGETABLES 
Cauliflower UK becoming cheaper. Weather effected Broccoli very expensive, UK season available next week.
Courgettes - Spain price down. French/UK new season starting soon.
Local veg - Swede Turnip. French Leeks.
Carrot now French - price dearer
Chile large onion.  Dutch - medium/large now price settled.

APPLES / FRUIT
Golden Delicious, Royal  Gala, Granny Smith - all southern hemisphere.
New season.  Red delicious from USA. Cooking Apples - UK prices stable.
Nectarine, Peach started from Spain, prices cheaper.
Grape Green/ Flame from Chile - quality good 
Bananas - Delmonte price going up now, suffering last years storms (store in warm)
Melon - Yellow, Galia, Cantilope & Water - all Spanish, prices cheaper
Strawberries & Raspberries -  now local, Scottish
Blackberry, Blueberry & Redcurrant less expensive.

CITRUS
Orange from Maroc. Waiting for South African season to start. Satsumas from South Africa. Good colour & eating
Lemons, Grapefruit -  red/white from South Africa up in price.
Good quality Limes from Brazil up in price.

SALADS
Tomato - Plum, Vine, Cherry, Beef - all Dutch. Top quality, down in price.
Iceberg from UK down in price, quality excellent.
Endive, Lollo, Oak, Cos, Little Gem Lettuce from UK down in price.
Cucumber and Peppers all colours Dutch, prices coming down

At last light is at the end of tunnel. New season produce will see prices coming down and quality improving.

HERBS / FINE PRODUCE

Herbs - all available now with the odd shortage
Micro herbs all varieties - Available from Scotherb
Fine Bean, Mangtout & Sugar Snaps - some price increases
                         
DRY GOODS / DAIRY
Oil price stable. Eggs up in price. Cheese no change.
New range of Scottish Cheese - now available.

PREPARED PRODUCE
Full range of prepared produce including all types hand cut produce for all occasions.
Freshly squeezed juices.
